The Beggs and Kiefer communities are grieving after the tragic passing of Nichole Chesser, an art and yearbook teacher at Beggs Public Schools, and her son, Talan Chesser, who died following a car crash.
The heartbreaking news was shared by Beggs Public Schools, which described the loss as a devastating moment for the entire school family. Talan, a recent graduate and former Beggs Demon, succumbed to injuries sustained in the accident. The tragedy has left classmates, educators, friends, and community members mourning two lives that touched many.
Beggs Public Schools released a message to the community expressing its sorrow and asking for support and prayers for the Chesser family.

“It is with a heavy heart as I send this message out this evening. Mrs. Chesser was in a car wreck with her family yesterday evening. This morning Talan Chesser, recent graduate and former Beggs Demon, succumbed to his injuries and passed away. Please send your prayers to envelope Mrs. Chesser, Talan’s family and friends during this time of mourning.”
Nichole Chesser was known as a dedicated educator who helped students express their creativity through art and preserved school memories through yearbook projects. Her influence extended beyond the classroom, leaving an impression on students and colleagues who valued her commitment and care.
Talan Chesser was also remembered by the Kiefer FFA community, where he was an active member and recent alumnus. The organization shared that Talan graduated just last month and made a lasting impact through his character, achievements, and friendships.
Kiefer FFA described Talan as someone who “could light up any room,” bringing kindness, laughter, and joy to those around him. During his time with the organization, he earned numerous accomplishments, including receiving his State FFA Degree in May. Members emphasized that his greatest contribution was the positive influence he had on the people around him.
Both Beggs Public Schools and Kiefer FFA are offering grief counseling services to support students, families, and community members affected by the tragedy. Counseling through Kiefer FFA will be available at the Ag Building on Thursday beginning at 10:00 a.m., while Beggs Public Schools will provide counseling at the high school on Friday beginning at noon.
As the community comes together during this painful time, many are remembering Nichole and Talan Chesser for the kindness, dedication, and joy they brought into the lives of others. Their memories will remain deeply valued by the students, friends, and communities they served.
